Residential PORTFOLIO:

A Grand Restoration

ILCA Gold Award — Residential Landscape Construction

Mariani restored a home’s landscape to the beautiful, formal spaces seen in old photographs to create a stunning, long-lasting landscape just in time for a wedding. Challenged by a tight deadline, Mariani transformed the property in under six months, when under normal conditions the process would have taken several seasons. Lack of maintenance and the age of the original installation caused many of the property’s beautiful details to be lost or hidden by overgrown plant material. Mariani took great care in preserving and rejuvenating existing elements of the landscape, looking at the project almost as archeological dig vs. a traditional landscape project. “In addition to pressure washing stone patios and water features that been weathered with age, we designed and installed elaborate annual rotations for the containers and beds to create a grander feeling,” says landscape architect Ed Furner. Pruning existing woody plants and shrubs to create crisp lines, Mariani also custom-grew annuals to ensure they were at the height of color to form dramatic focal points for the wedding.
